So I'm sure a lot of you are probably surprised by this, and some of you may have seen it coming for quite some time. But now that Season 6 is over with it comes time to announce that currently we (myself and Darkstar) have no plans to start Season 7 within the foreseeable future. This does not necessarily mean that we won't have a season ever again, rather that we are taking an extended break.
The ORL website will continue to run for you to chat on, and start Unofficial Tournaments if you wish. (though obviously there will be reduced activity)
The reason we have come to this decision is that we are basically burned out. I know that both Darkstar and I were already feeling burned out since at least Season 4. Now with Darkstar not being around I don't really have anyone to fall back on when things get tough, and the league has suffered for it. I'm sure you've all noticed quite a few hiccups this season. I refuse to let that get any worse by starting another season. I'm sure you're thinking "why can't you rely on the other managers?", and while they've done a great job - it's just not the same dynamic that Darkstar and I had.
I should add that my acquisition of an xbox one is not even a single part of the reason for this decision. I know a lot of you were probably thinking "oh he just wants to ditch ORL to play xbox one", but I actually almost completely stopped playing Halo long before the xbox one came out. We came to the decision to take a break from official seasons over two months ago. I have proof in PM's if you really don't believe me.
If you wish to continue official races of any kind I suggest you check out HaloTracks if you haven't already done so. They are a friend of this league and a racing community that has been together since Halo 3. They have a large variety of official races for you to compete in, along with active forums and friendly members (mostly). However, do not try to start any ORL squads on HaloTracks whatsoever. ORL is to remain its own entity.
So whoever you are, thank you for your participation in the league so far. It truly wouldn't have been what it is without you. <3
