I'm always looking to improve the site in any way I can, but lately for the most part I've been drawing blanks. This is where you guys come in. Suggest whatever you think can help improve the site! If it is possible within our means, and the staff members agree on it, then it will be implemented.
Note: This thread is strictly for suggestions regarding the actual site, and not the league as a whole.

can you make the Shout-box act like a Chat-box? because sometimes it gets confusing when you are reading previous conversations.

The Notification's on our profile should be in our messages. Its not a big deal but I think when someone likes one of my posts it should be in our messages and not in a notification tab. Really the notification tab is just a worthless thing that is just another place to look at a message.

can you make the Shout-box act like a Chat-box? because sometimes it gets confusing when you are reading previous conversations. I would actually hate this because; 1. It would be inactive due to different time zones, schedules and lack of activity. 2. People use it quite frequently to talk about stuff that would be bad as threads. I hope that with chat-box you meant that it only shows messages that have been sent while you have been online or on in certain recent period. Else please elaborate. If you meant like a personal chat box thing, that would be a cool addition but I wouldn't want that taking over the shoutbox.

What I simply mean by ''act like a chat box'' is that the messages should scroll upwards instead of downwards and the small space reserved for typing in a message should be at the bottom and not the top. Nothing to crazy...

What I simply mean by ''act like a chat box'' is that the messages should scroll upwards instead of downwards and the small space reserved for typing in a message should be at the bottom and not the top. Nothing to crazy... Hm, that's weird if the typing space is at the top for you. I just checked the settings and it should be at the bottom. Regarding the scroll thing, I also didn't like it at first but I feel it flows better this way. For example when you scroll down to read the shoutbox, you don't have to scroll all the way to the bottom of the page to read the newest message. It's also more fluid in the fact that once you are scrolled down to the shoutbox, you don't have to suddenly start scrolling up to read older shoutbox message. I'm also against changing something up that all our members have learned works one way, to instantly work the opposite way, unless absolutely necessary. Thanks for your suggestion though The Notification's on our profile should be in our messages. Its not a big deal but I think when someone likes one of my posts it should be in our messages and not in a notification tab. Really the notification tab is just a worthless thing that is just another place to look at a message. I usually would agree with you, but as I was typing this post I figured it would suck to have a bunch of messages just to realize they were notifications. Either way, I don't believe we can actually move notifications to messages anyway. On the plus side I did just find that if you go to your profile > edit settings > notifications you can opt out of any notifications you wish.

Probably the most important thing you guys can do is obtain a URL for the site. It's very inexpensive to do, and your board host should allow you to host the URL on the forum. For the URL and certification (SSL) for HT, I'm paying just over $35 USD. What "dot" you get affects what you pay. We have .org for HT because it was on sale at the time, haha.
Something more expensive but also very important to the growth of the group would be a large, more professional forum. We use Invision Power Board for HaloTracks, but some other popular options are Xenforo or vBulletin. Licenses for those boards are pricey and you'll have to pay for web hosting (which can be cheap depending on who you go to) but the customization options are well worth the price. You can basically do anything you want with a more professional board.
I'd be more than happy to help out with the URL, but the a board upgrade is something you guys will have to work out on your own. Easiest way for me is to donate some cash to a PayPal account. I'll throw you guys 20 bucks or so. Should be more than enough to get you guys started out.

Thanks for the offer Jeff. We actually do have a URL ( OutlawRacingLeague.net), but currently it is only set up to redirect here. I definitely do agree that upgrading to a different board would be a great improvement, however I think that is a huge matter of timing. We have built a lot of information on this site and transferring it would be a huge undertaking, not to mention it would interfere with whatever we are running at the time. That's definitely a task for if/when there's nothing else going on. If only there was a port feature

RealDeal You can personalize what you receive notifications for. Just go to your profile, click edit profile, then click notifications. Then uncheck all the things you dont want to be notified about, uncheck them all to receive none.
As for Jeffs suggestions. I agree with all of them. However none of the staff really has the money to commit to a professional site, or the url hosting. I know it dosent seem like it costs much, but we are coping with medical bills for multiple family members in my household. I started selling T shirts and hats in hopes of generating enough income for the league to do these things, but nobody is buying, making a tough financial situation even worse. I am not comfortable asking for donations, it always kind of turns me off when I see that on another site. It may be time to re think that. For now, I think we have all we need on this site. Lol you should have seen the ORL site before proboards upgraded, it was rough. Anyway, thanks for trying to help.

I would love a "NEW" tab at the top like we did in the old fourms. I know there is a "new particicpated", but I don't really like that as you don't get to see all the recent posted threads. I also know there is a recent threads on the bottom, but it would be nice to have it at the top again. Or at least have it just redirect you to the recent threads.
